RODEO CONNECTION
Procedures Updated March 1, 2008
Addition to Entry Procedure, 9-1 of rulebook:
- Preferences -- You can give two (2) preferences. You may use "slack" as a preference as long as you give a performance as your second or first preference. You may not use "slack or out" as a preference.
- An invalid preference will drop a priority by one and contestants will be responsible for fees and fines. Examples of an invalid entry are: entering for slack when there is none, entering for slack with no other preference.
- You can give a draw out parameter--if you cannot be up at a certain time you may say "draw out". If you don't get your preference you will be taken out of the rodeo. It is your responsibility to send to Rodeo Connection the central entry fee when you use the "out" parameter and are drawn out. If you fail to send this fee, the fee may be doubled and/or added to the contestant's next rodeo receipt.
- Drawn Out of Rodeo --If you are drawn out of a rodeo because your preferences were full when you draw number came up, you will be put on a waiting list for the requested performance. It is your responsibility to check with the on-grounds rodeo secretary to see if there have been any medicals/turnouts for that performance. This must be done before the draw for that performance. The contestant will be placed on the timer's/judges sheet in the turned-out position as "drawn out" not as a late entry.
- Random Draw --Rodeos will have a minimum of 10 timed event contestants per performance when slack is available. The number of contestants may be changed to 8 or more with committee request.
- After entries close there will be a 1 hour grace period to change entries. If the contestant elects to draw out of the rodeo at that time, the central entry fee needs to be sent to the Rodeo Connection office.
Rodeo Connection would like to thank everyone for their patience with our new computer system. The new program is working great after a few minor adjustments.
PLEASE remember you MUST have your card number READY when you call in for entries. The busy season is upon us and we DO NOT have time to look up your number. It isn't fair to the next person trying to get through. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Rodeo Connection is the NPRA's Central Entry System. This is where you will enter all NPRA Prime Rodeos.
Entries are always on Tuesdays from 11:00am to 7:00pm and Call-backs are always on Thursdays from 10:00am to 6:00pm (Pacific time). (exception for the finals)
Please check the Rodeo Approvals page for details on each rodeo.
At entry time you will be asked first for your NPRA Card number. Please have it ready and the card numbers of any buddies you may have. Have your schedule ready when you call. You will be asked for your "First" and "Second" preferences and whether or not you will be using "outs".
Remember you are not guaranteed your preference.
During Entries and Call-backs you will be given a verification number. Please write this number down. All Entries and Call-backs are tape recorded. This verification number refers to the date, operator and location on the tape.
The "out" parameter is designed to help you avoid being placed into a performance time that you can not make. You must remember when your draw number comes up and your preferences are already filled, you will be drawn out of the rodeo. At that time you will be responsible to pay the $7.00 Rodeo Connection fee.
You are allowed to make trades. When making trades you are responsible to call the contestants you would like to trade with. You are also responsible for calling the Rodeo Secretary and confirming the trade with her. Any trade made on Thursdays before 2:00pm can be confirmed through Rodeo Connection and included on the Rodeo Roster. After that time. You will need to make sure that the Rodeo Secretary has been notified.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you are calling from a cell phone, make sure to have a good signal when calling. It is frustrating to all involved when we can't hear or understand you. When your call gets dropped it means more time for you to get through again and more work for Rodeo Connection with wasted forms and extra calls.
The Entry line (503) 829-8869 is also used for Turn-outs and Medical-outs and Vet-outs. You will record your Name, Card number, Rodeo and and type of Turn-out on to the answering machine. Please do not call during the Entry or Call-back hours. This information is retrieved by the Rodeo Secretaries and is not the responsibility of Rodeo Connection.
Rodeo Connection is for Entries and Call-backs ONLY. Please refer all questions regarding membership and rules to Rita Rattray at the NPRA Main office.
